Helvetica Light Airlines.
hour of 6 am, connecting to a flight to Oakland. Waking up at
4:30 was tragic, but some good luck later made up for it: the
flight to Oakland was overbooked, and they offered me a flight
coupon in exchange for bumping me onto an a flight to SFO that
actually arrives earlier. Since the train ride is longer
it'll probably all even out timewise, but in the end i get a free ticket.
You know how on an airplane you're pretty much strapped in
and made to stare at the seat in front of you for hours? A couple
of times i've seen ads stuck to the underside of the tray-tables
so they can be in your face for the whole flight. On this flight the
tray-table in front of me has a round sticker that looks like this:
Except that's not what i see. When i stare at it all i can think of
is this:
Every time i see Helvetica Light now i think of United. They might
as well be called Helvetica Light Airlines. They've 0wned the
typeface. At least in my head. Apple is actually Myriad Computer
(previously known as Garamond Condensed Computer); Bank of America
is actually the Bank of Officina Sans.
Maybe they've just 0wned my
head. Ack! The market droids have annexed my neurons! Help!
