"A lot of my songs are about America."

Saw Ben Lee, Rufus Wainwright, and Ben Folds in a concert last night at the Mountain Winery with Mary and wealhtheow. We were sitting on the right side of the stage, so we were facing Ben Folds directly as he sat at the piano.

The title of this entry was how he introduced "All U Can Eat." He also played "The Last Polka," which contains these lines, among my favourite lines of lyrics ever:
My, my
The cruelest lies are often told without a word
My, my
The kindest truths are often spoke, but never heard
In the middle of his set, Ben got Rufus to come out again and they brought the house down singing George Michael's "Careless Whispers" together.

I also had the amusing experience of conversing with wealhtheow with her head propped sideways, ear in a glass of saltwater.

Best evening i remember having in a long time. I am thankful to live in a world with such great music and wonderful friends.
