Separation of church and state? What's that?

Have you seen the Constitution Restoration Act of 2004? This bill declares immunity from judicial review for any element of government that acknowledges God as the sovereign source of law, liberty, or government.

I could hardly believe it myself, but this is not a joke. This is a real bill: H. R. 3799. It has eleven Republican co-sponsors. Robert Aderholt claims he introduced the bill to protect prayers and monuments in government buildings, but its effects would extend far beyond that. For example, a state judge would be able to hand down a biblical punishment, and the CRA would prevent the Supreme Court from reviewing his decision. See a more detailed interpretation of what this law would mean.
