Summary: I offered to show how to build a voting machine with one-tenth as much trusted code while keeping accessibility and usability at least as good as today's voting machines. Less code to verify leads to better transparency and security. Committee said: Sounds cool, but we want you to look at how your techniques might work for applications other than voting, too.
